When the LORD restores the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, He will judge the Gentile nations for the way they treated His covenant people.
The LORD turns His attention to the Phoenicians and the Philistines. He promises to judge them for the crimes they committed against Judah.
The prophet Joel invites the Gentile nations to assemble for battle. He urges the LORD to bring His army down to defeat the nations.
The LORD commanded the nations to enter the Valley of Jehoshaphat, where He would judge them for their wickedness.
The day of the LORD will be a time of judgment for the Gentile nations, but a time of deliverance for the sons of Israel. In consequence of this deliverance, the sons of Israel will acknowledge Yahweh as their Suzerain God.
The LORD describes Judah’s final prosperity. He promises to restore their blessings and give them freedom from their enemies.
Joel 3 deals with the judgment of the nations, including the four nations who invaded Israel, and the restoration of Judah. The LORD will assemble all the Gentile nations in the valley of Jehoshaphat (the valley of decision). There He will judge them for their unbelief and their mistreatment of His covenant people. In those days, Judah will enjoy the fullness of God's blessings and will live peaceably. The land of Judah will prosper once again because the LORD will dwell in it forever.
