Paul starts his address to the churches of Galatia by showing that his qualifications are given by God and not men.
Paul clearly explains the true gospel in the first few verses of his letter.
The Galatians are being led astray by a gospel other than the gospel preached by Paul. Paul resists the false messengers and wants them to be accursed for leading the Galatian believers astray.
Paul did not receive the gospel from men, but from God. Paul’s authority is from God, and his ministry’s goal is solely to please God.
Paul discusses his past and how he came to believe the true gospel. He also begins to cite his actions after receiving his commission from Jesus, cementing the fact that his authority comes directly from God, and that he is not subordinate to any body of men.
Paul is still establishing his authority and the authenticity of the gospel he preaches.
Paul begins his letter to the Churches of Galatia by reminding them of the true gospel that they have turned away from. He establishes his authority as an apostle and demonstrates how he received the gospel of Jesus Christ not from man but from God. Paul will use this as a foundation to build his case against the twisted message that these churches have come to believe, a message that they received from competing Jewish "authorities."
