2 Chronicles 26:12 meaning

An explanation of 2 Chronicles 26:12

During Uzziah's reign, he experienced remarkable success as long as he sought the Lord. His military strength and prosperity are well-documented; however, it was his pride that ultimately led him to demise. At the height of his power, Uzziah transgressed against God's law by entering the temple to burn incense—a role strictly reserved for the priests. This act demonstrated not only his disregard for divine order but also a troubling presumption that he could transcend the boundaries God had established. His defiance provoked a swift and severe response from God, resulting in a leprous affliction that separated him from the temple and public life until his death.
